Pride Month wouldn’t be complete without a pro wrestling romance culminating in a big gay wedding, and Atlanta’s pro wrestling power couple made sure no one was disappointed.

Pro wrestling’s first out LGBTQ male world champion AC Mack and rising star and 2024 Scenic City Invitational entrant Rico Gonzalez tied the knot on the sands of Puerto Rico over the weekend.

The two exchanged vows and their first kisses as a married couple among the ruins of Fortín del Puerto Hermina in front of family and friends. They celebrated the occasion on social media, reveling in calling one another their husband.

Puerto Rico was a fitting setting for the ceremony. Gonzalez proposed to Mack on Flamenco Beach during their vacation to the island last year.

The ceremony marks another chapter in Gonzalez’s and Mack’s romance that has coincided with the Southeast pro wrestling scene becoming a major force in the growth of LGBTQ identities in pro wrestling. Mack, now retired from the ring, etched his name in history by winning the IWTV Independent Wrestling World championship in January 2022.

The post-match celebration saw Mack and Gonzalez kiss in the middle of the ring, a moment that became both a powerful snapshot for LGBTQ audiences and represented them officially becoming a couple.

Since then, Gonzalez has become a force in his own right in the wrestling world. He has multiple standout performances at EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch under his belt, stellar matches in promotions from Atlanta to Chicago and multiple title reigns.

Gonzalez would also be Mack’s final opponent both in their home promotion ACTION Wrestling and Indianapolis-based promotion Naptown All Pro Wrestling last year.

Clearly their love goes far beyond the ring, but what the two have meant both separately and together to the pro wrestling space cannot be understated. And their pro wrestling family came out in droves to celebrate their union.

Outsports congratulates AC Mack and Rico Gonzalez on their marriage and for continuing to show that Courage is Contagious.
