Jared McCain didn’t have to wait long to be selected in the 2024 NBA Draft, as the Philadelphia 76ers picked him in the first round with the 16th pick.

McCain was a freshman guard this past season for Duke. He was known for his scoring ability, as well as his painted fingernails.

“He’s tough, he’s physical and he’s really strong,” say basketball analyst Jay Bilas as he praised the selection.

Still, some fans are hating the pick.

This stems from McCain’s choice to paint his fingernails, driving some complete idiots to assume he’s gay.

McCain hasn’t hidden from his desire to paint his fingernails.

“I understand girls do it,” McCain previously said. “I understand men have started to do it a little more recently, but it was just something I saw.”

While culturally this has been something mostly done by women, more and more men have chosen to paint their fingernails. And yes, that’s a lot of gay men. Yet McCain has never said he’s gay, and straight men can pain their fingernails too.

Either way, Sixers fans will need to get used to McCain and his painted nails. It’s seriously not a big deal. Hopefully his teammates and 76ers fans don’t try to make it a big deal, either.
