Cardi B is a big fan of Team USA sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson. As the track and field superstar heads to the 2024 Olympics in Paris, the two women met up to get their nails done. Like ya do.

They recorded a spot for NBC, getting manicures together and sharing their appreciation for one another, ahead of Richardson’s cross-Atlantic trip to the Paris Olympics. Richardson in particular is known for her long fingernails. They’re reminiscent of Olympic champion Florence Griffith-Joyner, whose flashy appearance at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics helped steal the show.

When Richardson and Cardi B got together for their joint manicure, there was no shortage of love in the salon.

“I’m really, really proud of you,” Cardi B told Richardson. “Because you came back stronger than ever with your talent. You have evolved.”

The “came back stronger” part refers to Richardson’s heartbreaking 2021. Shortly after qualifying for Team USA at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, she was removed from the team after tests revealed she had smoked a banned substance.

Last year, as she staged the beginning of her world-renowned comeback, Richardson was named Outsports’ 2023 Female Athlete of the Year.

Now Richardson is back, she’s making her Olympic debut, and she is favored to win a medal if not gold.

“I feel inspired and I feel so warm,” Cardi B said. “I’m not gonna cry, but I feel really warm. The energy, I feel it girl. You are so special. You’re more than an athlete. You’re really special.”

She, of course, then cried, prompting a hug of love and support from Richardson.

If Richardson is able to achieve her goal and win a gold medal in the 100-meter dash at the Paris Olympics, we’ll all be crying with her.

If you’re looking to watch Richardson, and the rest of Team LGBTQ, compete at the Paris Olympics, you’ll be able to find a huge swath of sports being covered across the NBC network of channels, including Peacock.

Richardson will compete in the 100-meter final on Aug. 3, as well as the 4×100-meter relay on Aug. 9. She barely missed a spot in the women’s 200-meter at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials last month.
