Campbell Harrison is making a habit of kissing his boyfriend after a competition.

The out gay sport climber, who is representing Australia at the Paris Olympics, kissed his boyfriend after his first event at the Summer Games this week.

Campbell finished 19th out of 20 competitors. Still, just making it to the Olympic Games has been a huge accomplishment for the out gay athlete.

“Qualifying was so hard and getting through everything to be here was really tough. It was just not my day,” Campbell said after the competition.

Campbell also kissed his boyfriend at the event where he qualified for the Paris Olympics.

“From what I could see, every other athlete who qualified whose partner was there, kissed their partner on the live stream, so it was very common,” Harrison told Outsports at the time. “I’m glad all the feedback that I’ve seen has been positive. But it’s interesting how this one really caught people’s eye — the same-sex couple.”

He still has the lead category of climbing to go. While it may be his stronger category, an Olympic medal for Harrison would be a big upset. Yet the Olympics are made for underdogs and upsets, so we are holding out hope.

Harrison is one of almost 200 publicly out LGBTQ athletes competing at the Paris Olympics.
