In addition to being recognized throughout the globe as one of the planet’s greatest athletes, one of the perks of being an Olympian is the opportunity to land lucrative endorsement deals after the Games.

For most athletes, this involves capitalizing on a stirring victory. In order to earn a five-figure contract after a loss, it would have to take an image that really sticks in the public mind.

Enter Anthony Ammirati.

If you don’t recognize him, don’t worry. It is a little hard to put a face to that name. But it’s much easier to put a bulge to it.

Yes. THAT Anthony Ammirati.

As you no doubt recall now, Ammirati became a social media sensation during the Olympic pole vault event on Saturday when a video of his package clipping the crossbar spread like wildfire across the internet.

It was the first time in memory that a pole vaulter made the crossbar do a spot-on impression of a moyl.

Although that clip was evidence that Ammirati was endowed with much more than just good athletic genes, his midair batch botch also led to eventual eliminated him from competition.

Following his moment of infamy, though, adult entertainment company CamSoda approached Ammirati with a unique endorsement offer: the opportunity to put on an hour-long cam show for $250,000.

In a letter to Ammirati, CamSoda Vice President Daryn Parker wrote, “Although you didn’t bring home the gold medal, you can still capture the gold from your fans via CamSoda.”

And Ammirati thought the bulge puns were the worst jokes he’d have to endure.

“Plus, you won’t have those restrictive compression shorts holding you back, so feel free to let it all out and show the world why you should have your own Olympic competition next time around,” Parker added.

It certainly would be no disgrace for Ammirati to consider the offer. Several of his fellow Olympians like diver Jack Laugher and rower Robbie Manson run OnlyFans accounts and generate an impressive supplemental income from doing so.

But as of now, Ammirati doesn’t sound like he’s going to accept CamSoda’s overture as he’s still working through his emotions following the elimination. So even though we wouldn’t shame him for cashing in, it also feels kind of rare and admirable for a public figure like him to refuse the opportunity to cash in on internet infamy.

It’s hard to leave a moment like that with your dignity intact. But that might be Ammirati’s greatest Olympic feat.
