Minnesota ABC affiliate KSTP this week featured a rare diehard Minnesota Vikings fan living in New Orleans, and he just happens to be our longtime friend, Steve Paster. He’s been in our fantasy league for 10 years, almost as long as he’s been with his wonderful partner Jerry (whose son, Adam, is also featured in the video). He’ll be the rare dot of purple at Sunday’s game in a sea of black and gold.
Video after the jump.

The news were rather vague reporting it. Is his partner a sports fan? If he had a team, what is it?
I understand if Jerry is not a sports fan or shares the same team fandom, that he might not be relevant (and even if they shared the same fandom, why not include both odd guys in?).
I don’t know, if you hadn’t told us he had a partner, the video would have portrayed him as either straight with a son/brother (Adam looks similar to him) and wife.

I think there was emphasis on “his family” to indicate that something other than “hey might be brothers” was going on…

I’ve read that Saints fans are atypically friendly to fans of other teams so it’s not surprising his topiary has survived.
In Philly it would probably be firewood.

I know Steve via Jim and Cyd and he’s a) one of the nicest persons I’ve ever met and b) totally insane about the Vikings, Yankees and UConn basketball (I think he’s from CT). I thought I lived and died with the Angels and Everton but I’m a piker in comparison. His partner is awesome too, though I’ve not met the sons.
Very nice story, though as Lucrece notes, it’s a little fuzzy about the gay thing. Maybe Steve doesn’t want to attract attention for that where he lives?
The topiary Viking cracks me up. I wonder if the Adrian Peterson lifesize is coming down after today’s fumble fest.

Steve’s partner is a sports fan, but mostly after meeting Steve (who is a huge Yankees fan). They bought six seats at the 35-yard line for the game.

Love the story…Steve is truly a good guy—wouldn’t trade him for the world. Who cares about his relationship status…he’s just showing his passion and “Loyalty” for his team (through the good and bad)—Very commendable!
